Cody's Story

August 22, 1985, Cody Ray Lee was born with Cerebral Palsy. Wheelchair-bound for life but never missed a step! From pushing him around the bases of the handicap T-ball to walking him to his classroom at school, we were destined to share our lives!! Birthday party’s my friends and I would play football in the cow pasture and we would make sure he got him several touchdown runs by tilting his chair back and running past the defense as we all take turns diving and missing the tackle to see him go to the end zone and score! From dinner dates throughout high school, driving a tractor, training dogs and horses, to cutting horse shows and cowdog shows we have shared it all!! In September 2017, we had a pup born deaf and instead of putting him down we chose to give him a great life just as Cody, but little did we know that God had much bigger plans!! With vets telling us there would be no cure for Batman’s hearing we decided to work on training him with hand signals, but one day God healed him of his deafness and took him to victory! Now the Lord had big plans for Batman and Cody Ray Lee as they were born into a world where we are told they didn’t have a chance!! On October 18th, 2020 in a year when we needed to see God's work more than ever and reminded of his grace these two miracles come together to win the American Ranch Dog Novice Championship!!! In a world when folks are told they can’t do something because they aren’t quite built right or don’t possess the proper tools; with God, the help of Jenson Gainer, Jason Terrel, and the support of a strong Christian family Cody Ray Lee and Batman have proved that nothing should stop anyone from chasing their dreams!

For 35 years Cody has been limited to what he could do or where he could go without my help! I’ve taken him all across the country; he works with me each day mostly only able to sit and watch but stays happy! I’ve thought for years if there was a chance to change places I would but that’s not an option! I know without a doubt he appreciates me always including him but I also know he wants to be able to do more on his own!! He wants to walk his dog, help me work cows by pushing up the chute, he wants to play and do as anyone else and it’s possible now with this chair. Hunting, fishing, working, playing this is the closest I have to give him freedom from his chair! I don’t ask for help I’m very independent I don’t even have a handicap sticker or any government help to take care of him because we don’t miss a meal, but I know that this will change the rest of his life! He wants to show dogs he wants to work and have a job he’s far from lazy!! He had received a very nice sponsorship from Kiss/Hill farms and it’s the beginning to getting him there! If you would like to sponsor Cody and his cowdogs, please let me know! We appreciate any and all help! Thank you and thank God!
