Hello Everyone! This GoFundMe is being created in the hopes of helping ease the financial burden that is quickly growing for everybody's favorite Cowboy, Chris Sanstrom, and his fiancée, Elizabeth "Lizzie" Schickel.
As many of you know, Cowboy Chris was in a devastating accident while working on September 16, 2025. He fell from a billboard and was impaled on a metal fence. The fence post went through his left side and exited through the middle of his chest. There was severe damage done to his left lung, and the majority of his ribs were broken along with his chest plate. After calling 911 himself... By the Grace of God, the fast action of the First Responders, and the skilled hands of his surgeon, Chris was able to be saved and put back together! The surgeon who saved Chris told us repeatedly in the days that followed that she had no idea how he survived this horrific accident!
Thankfully, Chris is healing a little bit every day and was able to come home from the hospital. The doctors are saying that this is going to be an extremely long and hard road to recovery, and that he will be out of commission for a minimum of 4 months at this point. Not only is Chris healing from all of the internal injuries that he sustained during the fall, he is also dealing with memory loss and a significant amount of PTSD that is haunting him every day! The only way that Chris was going to be able to come home to heal was because Lizzie is a CNA and agreed to be his full-time caregiver. Lizzie is also experiencing her own PTSD, which will all be bills that will need to be paid out of pocket.
This is all very devastating to Chris because, as we all know, he is an extremely hard-working young man. He normally works 3 jobs and now he can't work at all.
Chris is receiving compensation from workman's comp, but as they are beginning to navigate all that is ahead of them, it is not enough to cover all of their monthly bills. And since Lizzie is his caregiver, she is not working either. Chris is unable to drive and needs multiple doctor visits and therapy weekly, for the foreseeable future.
Just one week before this accident, they were saying "Yes" to the venue that they chose for their upcoming wedding but now they have used those saved funds to cover their current bills and the wedding is on hold until they make it through to the other side of this tragedy.
The stress of the mounting bills is not aiding in either of their recoveries. So, we are hoping that through our families, friends, and by sharing this post, we can maybe take away some of the stress and let them focus on healing.
We truly appreciate all the love, prayers, and support that they have received thus far. Every donation, prayer, and share makes a difference.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for helping Cowboy Chris and Lizzie!!
