My father, Ponciano Medina, was a caring, loving, giving man with a very weird name. Unsurprisingly, he was proud of that name. My dad lived for his loved ones. Dad had just turned 62 years old when he contracted COVID-19 which was followed by 29 days of fighting bravely on a ventilator. 

My dad, by nature, was a survivor. Dad was born in a small town of San Luis Potosi, Mexico. After marrying my mom, both then made the terrifying decision to leave everything they know to give their 2 daughters a better chance in the USA. Dad worked non-stop, sometimes 2 or 3 jobs at a time, in order to provide for his family. Dad was always a humble man.  

One of the great lessons he instilled in me is perseverance and resilience. Dad kept on pushing through, even when life threw him the worst.

My dad was at his best and will be most remembered for his compassionate, giving personality. He was always there when my sister or I needed him. He was always traveling to different places such as his family, friends, and volunteered many hours in his church. 

Dad instilled my love for science and academics which will stay with me forever. My dad has made a big impact in my life and I will forever be grateful for him. I wish to carry the love that he had for me forever. He will be extremely missed. 

This funds from this fundraiser will be to pay for funeral costs and medical costs associated with treating COVID-19.
