Gina Pirozzi is one of my very first friends. We met in preschool and have been close for 50 years. Today, she lost both of her parents to COVID- 19 within hours of each other.  It is unthinkable. Her parents, Shirley and Jerry, were married for 57 years. They got sick in December with COVID-19. They were in the hospital for weeks and eventually they each were intubated, about 10 days apart. Today they both passed away within hours of each other. Jerry passed at 2:28 pm and Shirley followed him 3 hours and 42 minutes later. 




The Pirozzis were pillars of the community. They were one of the first families to buy a house in our little town of Oak Park, CA. After many families moved on, they remained in the house where they raised their three children: Theresa, Gina, and Michael. They also leave behind six grandchildren: Dilon, Mika, Alex, Christine, Jacob, and Cassidy. To quote their grandson, Alex: "Their love and compassion will never be forgotten, and their kindness will always be the foundation of our family's beliefs."
