COVID-19 Support for Children in Manta, Ecuador

Just 4 years ago, on April 16th 2016, Ecuador experienced an Earthquake with a magnitude or 7.8. Manta was one of the 3 regions that accounted for over 75 percent of the total casualties not to mention the destruction of entire communities. Many have not recovered yet!
Fast forward to 2020. Ecuador and the city of Manta is being hit hard with one of the largest pandemic in history. The city is still in ZONE RED; which means people have not been able to work for two and a half months, and it is not over yet. Except for emergency all traffic and persons are in total curfew from 2:00 pm through to 7:00 am, Monday to Saturday. Persons are only allowed to drive one day a week and there is no movement permitted on Sunday.

I'm the Treasurer of You and Us for Mantas Children Inc, and any donation will help make an impact. Our commitment to you - our Donor is that every dollar you provide will go directly to the needy children and families of Manta, Ecuador. Over the past 5 weeks we have delivered canastas consisting of food and necessities and, in some cases, prescribed medicine to more than 240 people in 55 families located in the poorest barrios of Manta.
We have another 79 families approved and waiting and we receive many, many calls for help every day. We desperately need your donations.
Our Goal is to provide at least an additional 100 families with food and necessities. That will feed approximately 450 persons in the next 2-3 weeks. Your donation of just $50.00 will feed a family of 3-4 persons for 12-15 days. Thanks in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to us and to the children of Manta.

In the spirit of community, YOU & US for Manta’s Children is committed to improving the lives of disadvantaged children in Manta, Ecuador.
Who are We?
We are a collaboration of Ecuadorian and Expat residents providing assistance to children and their families in Manta, Ecuador. Projects and activities within our two priority areas are determined annually by the Board of Directors with input from the broader You & Us community of supporters.
You & Us for Manta's Children is a non-profit organization. There are no remunerations or honorarium paid to Board Directors or volunteers. We provide our own time, talents and financial assistance, along with seeking donations from individuals, organizations, and companies in Ecuador and around the world. You & Us for Manta’s Children is a registered non-profit organization with 501(c)(2) tax status, which allows US citizens tax deductible donations.
Focus of You & Us Projects
Projects areas include supporting basic nutritional and hygiene practices including parent training, dental clinics, de-worming program, and providing free health checkups. Projects also include fostering early childhood development of social, motor and language skills for toddlers, as well as development of early academic skills for preschool and elementary aged children.
