Covid-19 Support for ABC Learning Centre
Donation protected
Covid-19 is continuing to wreak havoc in The Gambia and the economic repercussions are severe and mounting. The government has ordered all schools in the country closed and online learning is difficult due to the lack of internet and computer infrastructure in the country. Most students have stopped paying school fees and there is no money to provide salaries for the staff. Though schools are continuing to provide printed packets and tutoring to students, many teachers have been without income for months, with little hope for the situation bettering in the near future.
As many of you know, I spent the 2017-18 school year as a 7th grade math and computers instructor at A Better Chance (ABC) Learning Centre in Kombo, The Gambia. ABC is a beautiful school where every student is nourished and given the chance to excel. The school needs our support now more than ever to help buoy this challenging time.
A teacher’s salary at ABC is about 5000 dalasi/100 USD per month. With 40 full-time staff across three schools, the entire monthly payroll is 200,000 dalasi/4000 USD. I am asking for your support to help provide one month of financial assistance to ABC.
Jerejef (thank you) and all my love,
Forrest
