COVID-19 support for a rural part of India

Donation protected
Update (May 23):
 - We will be closing the fund raising effort by Monday (5/24) night ET and transferring the funds over to Udaan by Monday / Tuesday.
 - Bel-Air Hospital reached out to Udaan that their needs have already been met, therefore we will be sending the funds raised to Kaushalya Medical Foundation Trust Hospital (outskirts of Mumbai) for their need for beds, ventilators, patient trolleys, etc.
 - Once the funds are used by the beneficiary for the causes we highlighted, they will send us a confirmation / proof of use.

The surge in COVID-19 cases has received a lot of attention here in the US.  At CohnReznick, several co-workers, friends and business partners have reached out to some of us inquiring about how they can offer help for people struggling in India.

Vikram Devanga, one of the partners in CohnReznick's Transaction & Turnaround Advisory team recommends the work done by Udaan Welfare Foundation (https://www.udaanwelfare.org/about/about-the-foundation/), a charitable organization based in the outskirts of Mumbai. Udaan has been helping local communities since 2008 in various initiatives.  With the dire state of affairs in the last few weeks caused by the surge in COVID-19 cases, Udaan has supported frontline workers, hospitals and communities by providing PPE and other protective equipment as well as meals for families that have lost their source of income due to unemployment. (https://www.udaanwelfare.org/our-fight-against-covid-19/)

CohnReznick’s Transactions & Turnaround Advisory team, started a GoFundMe page with a goal of raising $7,500 which will be donated to Udaan.  These funds will be exclusively utilized to provide better facilities at Bel-Air Hospital, a Red Cross affiliated hospital, based in a small town called Panchgani (approx. 150 miles south of Mumbai).  A recent letter from the Director of Bel-Air Hospital to Udaan indicated that they are looking to add 6 more ICU beds, 6 ventilators, 6 cardiac monitors and 6 syringe pumps to cater to the increase in COVID-19 cases. Although the goal we set will not be able to get them all of the items they need, but we are confident it will get them one step closer.

GoFundMe needs us to provide a clarification in our fundraising campaign:  None of the partners at CohnReznick have any direct affiliation with Bel-Air Hospital or Udaan.

We would appreciate any support in helping us achieve this goal so that some smaller communities in remote parts of India can get better access to medical infrastructure that most of us here in the US are routinely accustomed to.  Thank you all for reading this note and for your consideration.
