COVID-19 Sanitation Kits for the Homeless
Donation protected
Homeless individuals staying in close quarters at shelters, tent cities and warming centres are especially at risk for COVID-19.
Social distancing to reduce the risk of spreading the novel coronavirus is difficult for people who are housed in crowded spaces and lining up in groups to use bathrooms and get food.
The primary goal of the Goodwill Initiative is to provide homeless individuals with safety supplies necessary to protect themselves from the COVID-19 virus, and this is to be done by preparing kits containing the safety supplies and donating them to homeless shelters in the Ottawa region. We wish to provide kits that include the most essential items to help protect.
We have figured ways to create low-cost and portable COVID-19 sanitation kits to create a positive impact in the lives of those affected.
This includes:
Hand sanitizer, antibacterial wipes, toothbrushes, toothpaste, tissues, soap, and homemade masks.
We have already contacted homeless shelters to which we will be donating these kits. It would be great if you could support the homeless community by helping us raise money to create even more of these kits!
We are completely reliant on private funds, and every penny we raise goes directly to the homeless people we serve. All money donated will go directly toward preparing kits for all the different homeless shelters in Ottawa.
$4 is all it takes for a single kit, so every dollar donated here will go a long way!
If in the end, we have more money than we spent on preparing kits for the homeless that we encounter, then we will be donating the excess money to an organization that feeds and directly assists the homeless.
