COVID-19 Relief - Help Polished in Portland!
Donation protected
Hello to all you beautiful souls that have taken the time to visit this campaign! We're collectively going through uncertain and weird times and I'm thankful that you took time out of your day to read this. Please enjoy my word journey.
As you may already know, I'm Christi, an independent contractor Nail Tech in Portland Oregon. I have a one woman studio where I provide one on one nail magic and I love it. I love every bit of it with every bit of me. I want to come back to work and see each and every one of you when this is over. So as hard as it is to swallow my pride as a human and a business owner, here's the two biggest reasons I'm asking for your help.
1) Due to COVID 19 the state of Oregon, like many others, is currently under a shelter-in-place,or stay home order, as mandated by Gov. Kate Brown effective March 23rd.
Due to the serious health threat, I chose to close my doors effective March 21st for two weeks to self quarantine as a safety measure for my clients, myself and the general publics health. Since we are now under the stay home order, there's really no estimated time that I'll legally be able to return to work. So, of course, financially it is a scary time. Savings only lasts so long and small business assistance has not been approved or made available.
2) In addition to the state of the world, my husband Carey is also recovering from a severe infection that required hospitalizations, two surgeries and home health care.
Due to the severity of his condition and recovery time, this put him on short term disability for 6-8 weeks with home health care. Fortunately, he will make a full recovery and is making great progress but it is going to be a journey through the next couple months. Thankfully he works for a wonderful company and we are not both without income during this time. However, right now we have to be extra careful due to his compromised health. While the home health care team is great and handles a portion of his physical care, I'm responsible for the rest. So even after the state reopens, I may not be able to return to work for his safety. Nothing is known right now for either situation and I'd be lying if I told you it wasn't terrifying.
I want to be transparent about why I'm asking for assistance! So the goal for this campaign is set at $3,000. This would assist in covering business expenses to keep the studio so we can have a place to nail vibe in once this is all over, personal rent, and groceries for two months.
This is a hard time for so many of us, so we appreciate any and all support whether that be a donation, sharing this campaign or some other way. WHATEVER you are willing to provide, we GREATLY appreciate you and your time.
With all of that being said, I cannot wait to return to work and get to see familiar faces, see new ones and hold hands with all of you! We'll be together again soon creating some fun art together on your nails. I hope each and every one of you reading this are in good health and staying home!
