This is a general fund created for Indigenous people in North Dakota who have been impacted by Covid-19. Monies will be going toward expenses such as medical treatment, funeral costs, related travel and lodging, economic hardship stemming from missed work etc.
It was created out of necessity, as the state has refused to take responsibility for the safety of its citizens.
According to the CDC, North Dakota has the highest Covid mortality rate IN THE WORLD. Native communities are particularly vulnerable as the virus has exacerbated pre-existing disparities especially health outcomes and economic inequality. Because we anticipate that the need will exceed the availability of funds, a volunteer-Advisory Council has agreed to oversee fair and equitable distribution to people seeking relief.
NOTE: We are NOT a nonprofit rather an informal group of volunteers working to provide relief for our community.
Advisory Council Members:
Vickie Swift McMullen
Erin Buzick
