COVID-19 Relief for LANGO Sub-region in N. Uganda
Dear friends,
The Lango Association of North America (LAONA) is appealing for financial assistance to support the COVID -19 relief efforts in the Lango Sub-region in Northern Uganda. The funds are desperately needed to provide Personal Protection Equipment (PPEs) to medical centers serving the rural enclaves in the Lango subregion.
As you may already know from international news and reports from family and friends COVID-19 has resurged with a vengeance in its third wave in Uganda driven by the more severe Delta variant. Uganda is currently under a lockdown for at least 2 months, assuming the situation becomes stable.
The community hospitals, often under-resourced and serving the rural poor in Uganda have been overwhelmed by the new number of cases. The situation is not helped by lack of wide vaccination coverage and little SOP adherence including social distancing, masking, and regular disinfection by the population due to poverty.
Lango subregion remains particularly vulnerable due to the impact of the protracted civil war that engendered destruction of untold proportions to communities in the region through abductions, murder, and destruction of property. The Lango Association of North America (LAONA) is partnering with on-ground efforts to assist Health Centers secure PPEs (Surgical gloves, Surgical Face Masks, Alcohol based hand sanitizers, disposable gowns, etc.) for local health centers, among other needs.
We are asking for your help to raise a minimum of USD $10,000. The funds will be used to procure the much needed PPEs that will be distributed to the worst hit rural health centers that are currently fighting the pandemic in the Lango subregion.
LAONA will greatly appreciate it if you could please support this drive by donating and then sharing it with your network. Every amount will count towards the success of our goal. 100% of the donated funds will go towards the procurement of the PPEs.
Sincerely,
Lango Association of North America (LAONA)
