Small businesses are the backbone of every community. In Dallas, Georgia, Fitness 1440 has been changing lives one day at a time, 1440 minutes of every day since 2016. In the difficult times of the Covid-19 epidemic, the fitness industry has been one of the hardest hit and one of the first to be shut down to protect the health of our employees, and our members.
We were shut down by Paulding County on March 26th. We suspended all dues and personal training fees while we were closed. After that the entire state of Georgia was sheltering in place, and all gyms had to close. I am filing unemployment on behalf of our 18+ employees. As a business we have exhausted every form of assistance by the federal government. We reopened on March 24th after being given the okay by Governor Kemp (a difficult decision) because we want to get back to work on the mission we are passionate about. We are making every effort to insure the safety of our members that ARE ready to come back to the gym.
We received feedback from many members that they wanted to be charged for their April dues to make sure the gym would be here after all this passes. We made the tough decision to charge those dues retroactively for the month of April in which we were closed, but after discussion with other members and among ourselves, we decided that is not in the best interest of our community during these difficult times.
One bright light in all of this is that this made us realize how many of our members love this community, and we received several calls today from people who wanted to be charged for the month we were closed.
Our Fitness 1440 family are all pushing towards a common goal to get and stay healthy, which is more important than ever in the time of this pandemic. We wanted to provide an opportunity for our members to contribute to the survival of the club if they are able, and that is why we have started this GoFund me campaign. Please contribute if you are able, or share with your friends thru social media to spread the word.
