COVID-19 Meal Assistance for Healthcare HeroesVBMC
Donation protected
Greyhound Alumni,
Rohan Patel and Ricky Garcia, DO (SBHS c/o 2004) have created this GoFundMe page to help support our Frontline Healthcare Workers as they take on the fight against COVID-19 in the San Benito/Harlingen area.
We have graciously decided to gather donations and provide warm, nutritious meals to our Healthcare Heroes in the COVID ICU floors at Valley Baptist Medical Center-Harlingen. This devastating virus has impacted all of us in some shape or form and the grueling shifts that doctors, nurses and supporting staff have to undertake are absolutely exhausting...at times demoralizing.
We have to continue to do our part in reminding them how special and valued they are when they go home or take a break from their full donned PPE/N95 masks. Trust me when I say (as a doctor who once trained in the hospitals), a meal goes a long way in feeling appreciated, staying focused and reinvigorated to work another 6-8 hour shift. We need them to feel the love of our local community in San Benito, particularly as we head into the Fall 2020 Season.
Our GOAL: We would like to raise $1,500 with Rohan vowing to match $1 per dollar up to $1000 through his work franchise-Firehouse Subs. I will honor the purchasing, managing, and distribution of meals within the Valley Baptist Health System via my contacts and the VBMC Compliance Officer. We'll make sure to relay delivery of those meals via Facebook so that everyone can see their contributions first-hand.
Time Frame: Within the next 2 weeks
We've always been a community of selflessness and giving, especially in the form of donations and meals (yes, i still smell those chicken plates from the tickets we bought as a kid). Let's continue to show our strengths amidst these times of uncertainty and pray that these small contributions give our heroes the strength to keep pushing forward while saving precious lives.
With Love,
Ricky Garcia, DO and Rohan Patel
