Allah says in the Quran: “Those who spend [in Allah’s Cause – deeds of charity, alms, etc.] in prosperity and in adversity, who repress anger, and who pardon men; verily, Allah loves Al-Muhsinun (the good-doers).” [sūrah āl-Im’rān 3:133]
Due to moratoriums imposed by government officials and health professionals in response to the escalating COVID-19 pandemic; Masjid As-Sunnah has temporarily closed its doors in a joint effort to curb the spreading of the coronavirus. Consequently, Masjid As-Sunnah has indefinitely suspended the five daily congregational prayers, Friday prayer, and all classes/lessons at the Masjid until further notice.
However, as a direct result of the closure—the Masjid finds itself at a disadvantage due to the fact that we rely heavily on general donations and tuition to generate the type of funding necessary to operate effectively.
Masjid As-Sunnah was established in July of 2015 in San Diego California. Since our inception, the Masjid has provided a number of services including, but not limited to:
· Five daily prayers
· Jum'ah prayers
· Weekend Islamic academy
· Islamic conferences and events
· Weekly Islamic lessons
· Free iftar and suhoor
· Taraweh prayer
· Eid prayer
· Eid picnics
At this time, we are seeking monetary donation funds that will go directly to maintaining the day-day operations of the Masjid for the next three months. We estimate that we need to fundraise approximately $11,000 to maintain our monthly expenses during this closure. Any donation, of any size, is greatly appreciated! May Allah reward you.
A man came to the Prophet (ﷺ) and said: “O Messenger of Allāh which Sadaqah is the one that gives the greatest amount of reward from Allāh (سبحانه و تعالى)? The Prophet (ﷺ) said: “That you give in charity whilst you are in good health and you are feeling miserly and you want to covet that wealth that you possess, and you fear poverty for yourself and that you hope for riches.” (Al-Bukhāri: no. 1419)
Abu Hurairah (r.a.) reported Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) as saying: “Charity does not in any way decrease the wealth and the servant who forgives, Allah adds to his respect; and the one who shows humility, Allah elevates him in the estimation (of the people).” (Muslim Vol. 4, Hadith.
May Allah reward you and bless you in this life and the hereafter.
