We founded 3D Hubs in 2013 and have produced over 4.000.000 parts over the past 7 years. Today we are leveraging our global network of manufacturers to produce face shield components and ship them to hospitals and organizations in need.
UPDATE: as of the 15th of April we have switched from the Prusa RC3 3D printed design, to a design based on the Foster and Partners PET foil design. Since it is twice more cost effective to produce, we can produce more face shields for the organizations we're supporting.
Each batch costs €1,000 to make and will be provided for free to non-profit organisations in the order in which they are requested as soon as funds are available. Your donations to this fund will help us aid more organizations like the list above.
If you would like to request a batch of 500 face shields components, please follow this link to apply - we’ll ask you a few short questions about your organisation. If you would like to learn more read our blog.
3D Hubs is proud to support the fight against COVID-19. While we are working on many projects to address global healthcare-related supply shortages around the world, we must balance our enthusiasm and concern with a reminder that masks, face shields, ventilator parts and other parts intended to prevent or treat Covid-19 are medical devices, which are subject to rules and regulations in the EU and in the US. These rules and regulations are in place to keep those affected by COVID-19 safe, so that we do no harm in our efforts to help.
We would like to remind you that:
• It is your responsibility to ensure that your parts are safe for their intended purpose. Our usual disclaimer (below) applies, even in these difficult times.
• You are responsible for ensuring that all necessary approvals and processes are followed. Please consider local regulations, material safety data sheets, software capabilities, sterilization requirements, and institutional requirements before manufacturing parts for the Covid-19 efforts.
• While we will do our best to pass on any manufacturing specifications, such as sterilization or other cleaning procedures while producing your parts, to our manufacturing partners, we cannot guarantee that any such procedures will be followed. Please take this into consideration when requesting production and supplying the parts to the end-user.
Any parts or tooling is provided on an “as-is” and “as available” basis, and, to the extent permitted by applicable law, 3D Hubs (and our manufacturing partners) expressly disclaim any and all warranties and conditions of any kind, whether express, implied, contractual or statutory, including but not limited to all warranties, representations, guarantees or conditions of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, quiet enjoyment, accuracy, or non-infringement. If mandatory law requires any (statutory) warranties with respect to the parts or tooling, all such warranties are limited in duration to ninety (90) days from the date of delivery.
