One of my best friends, Amy Pearson, was diagnosed with COVID-19 several weeks ago. Not only is she a dear friend, but she has done more for me than I could ever thank her for. She's giving, loving, happy-go-lucky and has a heart of gold. Of course, Amy is not the kind of person who likes to ask for help - she is the definition of independent - and the kind of friend who always covers lunch when we go out. However, Amy really needs help during these unfortunate times.
After testing positive, Amy was admitted to the hospital with severe cough, sore throat, vomiting, diarrhea, full body rash, chest pain, and a temperature above 104 degrees
Unfortunately, when Amy was diagnosed she had recently lost her insurance, and she spent one week in the hospital incurring a $14,000 bill (this is after applying the charity offered by the hospital due to the situation).
Before the diagnosis she was working for for a company that did not provide sick pay or insurance. Due to the severity of her illness and a pre-existing autoimmune disorder, she will be in recovery for 3 months. She is on oxygen 24/7 and her treatment includes getting the proper amount of rest and hydration.
Thankfully Amy is on the road to recovery, however, she will be out of work for 3 months with no funds for basic necessities such as food, basic hygiene items, rent, and utility bills. Amy also has two amazing children who rely on her as well. Currently she only has food to last 2 days and is down to her last dollar.
Any and all donations are appreciated. I want to thank everyone who took the time to read this and consider donating. If you feel more comfortable donating in any other way, please let me know. I want to help Amy any way we can.
