Kyrgyzstan has just been truly hit by the COVID-19 pandemic. The situation is one of the worst globally. The country was completely unprepared and the lack of basic healthcare infrastructure contributed to the collapse of the system. The number of daily COVID cases and deaths are growing at an exponential rate. At this stage, all medical capacity has been reached and hospitals are completely full. People are dying in front of the hospital doors. The situation is truly horrific as every minute someone’s life is about to be over.
While most aid is targeted at the capital, the regions are the most vulnerable at this moment.
Hospitals lack equipment, drugs, and personal protective equipment (PPE). The rate of infection among medical staff keeps growing, which hinders the battle against the common enemy.
As a group of friends originally from the lake Issyk-Kul region, we decided to take initiative and help our beautiful region at the most critical time. Our team members on the group established a direct communication channels with the heads of local hospitals. We established that the hospitals are lacking the following:
- Certain drugs and medications such as Oksapar, CLEXANE.
- Personal protective equipment (PPE) for medical personnel
- Oxygen concentrators,
- Pulse oximeters
- Hospital bedside tripods.
Our strategy is to collect funds to provide hospitals with what is needed the most needed.
What we have already done so far:
- Arranged for all medical doctors in the Issyk Kul region to have free unlimited mobile and internet phone plans. (we have collected phone numbers of all doctors and cooperated with mobile company providers)
- Established connections with the head of hospitals and medical units.
- Established a database of the most essencial hospital needs
- Ordered the first batch of the most needed medication from Turkey directly from the supplier at a price several times cheaper then in Kyrgyzstan (and most medication is not even available at any price)
However, the above is just a tiny drop and much more help is needed. With your help we can organize delivery of needed supplies to Issyk Kul region hospitals.
Although we are going through dark times, we can confidently say that we are going through them together. Each dollar raised will bring us closer to the goal and help us save lives, for there is nothing more precious than human life.
