COVID-19 efforts: UNM Heather Canavan

Donation protected
Many individuals are interested in volunteering their time to produce hand sanitizers, face masks, and face shields for hospitals within NM. There are many isolated efforts to help support this cause within NM.

The founders of Adaptive Biomedical Design, Drs. Heather Canavan and Phuong Nguyen, have mobilized their group to respond quickly to this pandemic. Our group of Engineering is working with Broken Trail Distillery and other local individuals to coordinate these efforts to create and bring them to places of need such as hospitals, nursing homes, etc.

We are looking for donations to help with buying supplies as many of us are unemployed and cannot support these costs ourselves. We already have many materials including 3D printers, a sewing machine, autoclaves to sterilize and individuals who are interested in coordinating the creation and delivery of the materials.

Financial donations are also being solicited so that we can pay volunteers to collect items created in the community, and distributing them to those in our community who need it (e.g., fire departments, nursing homes, hospitals). These volunteers are students and service workers who have been laid off from their employers during the shutdown, and will help provide them with financial stability during these turbulent times.
