Covid19 And Mental Health Awareness
After careful consideration I have decided that I will be blending Covid19 Awareness and Safety Advocacy with Mental Health Awareness in order to utilize my preexisting non-profit entity as well as to utilize the connections and reach that I have cultivated over the past 7 years.
This is a logical step for me as I feel that Mental Health Awareness and Covid19 Advocacy and Awareness go hand in hand, since Covid19 is such a negatively impactful aspect of our lives now.
Since I have a preexisting non-profit entity named 80s Summer Camp Cares, which is an education/mental health awareness orientated one, I thought I would save time and funds by utilizing it to start the work that I feel is important.
It has sat idle since I formed it as family reasons kept me from the needed work to take it past the awareness stage and back into the realm of providing programming and interactive experiences for those looking for a boost to their mental health.
The plan, the hope, the goal now, is to be able to work full time at Covid19 Awareness and Advocacy while at the same time continuing to generate awareness for Mental Health by utilizing connections, social media reach, creativity, videos, songs, live events, expert interviews, and education.
My work will be geared toward supporting those who have been harmed by Covid19, physically or mentally, as well as those who advocate for safety and education, while at the same time providing information to those who are not well versed in the topic.
Blending the two realms of advocacy and awareness for both socially important issues will be a daunting task, but it is a task that I feel I can tackle with the right help, and most importantly the luxury of time.
The advocacy aspect of the plan will initially consist of the sharing of information related to the damage that Covid19 can cause to people in the physical and mental sense as well as illuminating the economic impacts that the virus is directly or indirectly responsible for.
Contacting government officials, business owners, school boards, schools, etc to provide them with information about the possible impacts that Covid19 can have on health as well as on the bottom line, and the workforce, will be a major part of the information sharing blitz, and a needed aspect of the struggle for a return to a safer existence with Covid19.
A formal request for a comprehensive education program relating to Covid19 is needed, and information packets should be sent to as many people as possible, in the same manner that information was provided on AIDS and HIV in the past. Covid19 education should be delivered on a broad scale through social and traditional media outlets and these are the type of tools that we will demand, or create ourselves.
Masking is an important strategy that has been abandoned at the regulatory level so after providing as much pertinent information as possible to all the before mentioned entities, the next step will be to request that based on information provided that required masking be reinstated in all essential public areas, beginning with healthcare facilities.
The last of the initial goals will be to organize people from all over the globe to formally request information from their prospective health authorities as to compile as much transparent knowledge as we can as so there are less gaps in the information lines, and less room for confusion if the need for legal action should ever arise in the future.
I will apply for funding in the form of grants as well as share this gofundme to raise some funds, to allow me to begin working on these goals full time, with the ultimate goal of employing others, especially those who are in greater danger in society due to the prevalence of Covid19.
In my life I have worked as a Youth Group Home Worker, a one on one support worker for children with disabilities, an education assistant in all levels of school, a Special Education Teacher, and while I am a teacher by trade, I feel my experience in the world of mental health advocacy and awareness promotion can allow me to be highly useful in our attempt to educate people, and demand safety requirements until a more permanent solution for Covid19 is discovered.
My goals as a Mental Health advocate have been to break the stigma around Mental Health and to let others know that they are not alone, and these foundational principles are easily transferable to the struggle that we have all faced as advocates, survivors, and everyday people, due to the emergence of Covid19.
Collaboration with other preexisting advocacy groups in the Covid19 and Mental Health areas, as well as promotion of their great work, is something that I feel is vital to the realization of our collective goals, so that cooperation will remain an important aspect of my work going forward.
The fundraiser goal is the starting point, we will adjust it dependent on support, and as always, any support given, whether it be monetary, a share on social media, or volunteer work, all support will be appreciated to the fullest definition of the word.
Any Help, Really Helps.
Thank you.
