COVID-19: Support Fund for Frontline Health Care
0% complete
$3,775 raised of $50K CAD
74 donations
Ontario hospitals are running out of supplies for Frontline Workers including Doctors, Nurses & healthcare staff who are treating COVID-19 patients. Our friends who are working in some of Ontario’s hospitals have told us that there is a severe shortage of masks and other Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). The Provincial Government has pleaded with every member of the Province to assist in any way that they can (see www.ontario.ca/OntarioTogether). We are answering the call in a big way but we NEED YOUR HELP AS SOON AS POSSIBLE
We spoke with medical professionals to identify that their greatest needs are masks. WE ARE ABLE TO SECURE A SUPPLY OF N95 AND SURGICAL MASKS to be shipped to Ontario. We will do the work, we just need your charity and generous donations.
ALL DONATIONS will go directly into the purchase and delivery of N95 masks, surgical masks, and Personal Protective Equipment for Frontline healthcare workers in Ontario’s busiest Emergency Rooms and Intensive Care Units.
As CANADIANS, we can’t just sit around and watch Netflix. As a former member of the Canadian Armed Forces, I understand the need to keep our Frontline troops sustained so that they can keep up the fight. IT WILL TAKE ALL OF US to play a role.
WE ARE ALL IN THIS TOGETHER
OUR GOAL
$50,000 will acquire the first 100,000 surgical masks to arrive, we are aiming to do this as soon as possible. (Timelines will be updated Regularly)
Ontario has 14.57 Million people, if everyone in the province donated $1-$10 we can raise anywhere between $14,570,000 to $145,700,000!!! This would be more than enough to and arm our Frontline Workers throughout this difficult time.
Our goals are more conservative
If we go beyond our goal, we will acquire additional mask shipments to assist across the entire country to help our loved ones, Medical and non-Medical Essential Workers. Our goal is to raise enough to purchase and donate as many masks as possible to Frontline healthcare workers. Hospital staff have told us that they are going through approximately 20,000-30,000 masks a day.
If you are a Hospital staff member and would like to help us understand your needs better. Please fill out the following form

FAQ
How will the funds be used?
100% of the funds will go directly to the purchase and delivery of masks and other urgent Personal Protective Equipment for Frontline healthcare workers in Ontario’s busiest hospitals. The donation will not be applied to any administrative fees and we make sure that our suppliers are giving us competitive rates. Should we raise enough money and have enough access to supply, we hope to expand our donations to other hospitals and workers in need across the country.
Why aren’t the hospitals & government ordering these masks directly?
Hospitals as well as government agencies are trying their best to procure masks. However, due to supply chain limitations and global competition, they are currently experiencing extreme shortages. We are fortunate to have close relationships with several of the factories producing masks.
Why Ontario First?
Ontario has the second highest COVID-19 cases in Canada. We hope that we can help Ontario first and expand outwards with our efforts but ideally we would like to help the whole country. We are a team of Canadians from Ontario and we have established relationships with several members from hospitals in the area.
I’ve seen other charity efforts related to COVID-19. How is this one different?
Your donation will go directly to support the acquisition of masks & other urgent PPE for Ontario healthcare staff at the Frontlines of COVID-19. Because of the global shortage of masks & PPE, your funds will be able to get equipment that is in great need and out of reach for hospitals currently. Unlike other charities, ours is related directly to the supply of masks & PPE, because we believe that protecting our Frontline healthcare workers is the most important thing to do right now. We will be sharing photos & videos of healthcare workers receiving the donated equipment, so you can see your impact on the health care community in the province.
How much are you paying for the masks?
We are getting manufacturer pricing on the mask (between $0.40-0.50 for Surgical and $2.40 for N95). As pricing depends on order quantity, shipping rate (in this case, the faster the better to protect our healthcare workers), and competing demand, the number may change. However, we have spent our time comparing prices across multiple manufacturers to get the best possible price per unit while making sure that each manufacturer has the right certification and approval.
How do you prioritize who receives the mask?
The healthcare workers on the Frontline of COVID-19 are those in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and in the Emergency Room. We try our best to donate masks to ICU & ER Units within Ontario’s busiest hospitals, as they are the ones who are likely to have the highest quantity of cases.
Are donations tax deductible?
Currently, donations are not tax-deductible as we are not a registered Charity.

TESTIMONIALS
"The hospital has insisted that we have sufficient PPE, but during one of my shifts with several presumptive positive COVID-19 patients on the floor, myself - along with the other nurses - found that we were trying to ration the amount of masks on the unit so each of us, who had one of these patients, had enough PPE to care for them throughout the night.
This pandemic is obviously bringing me a ton of stress and I am anxious, and seeing how PPE shortage is a major issue not only in Canada but in the US and worldwide, I feel like it is only a matter of time until things get even worse for us. How am I supposed to help take care of someone in a situation where there isn't enough PPE? Yes, as a nurse, I am risking my life on each shift with being potentially exposed to certain illnesses and diseases. However, this is different. Because accidental exposure is not the same as exposure due to a lack of supplies. Just like all workers in Canada, we have a right to work in a safe environment."
- Mali, RN BScN
"As a frontline healthcare provider, I feel like my own health is compromised facing the shortages of PPE and surgical masks. The COVID pandemic has not hit full blown in this first world country and we are already advised to limit the amount of surgical masks for a shift. We shouldn’t have to struggle in dividing our supply between patients, as we should have enough to begin with. Yes, there are patients in isolation for MRSA, C-Difficile, or Pneumonia and we should treat it of the same value because the nurses would be putting their health at risk as well if proper PPE is not taken seriously.
Compared to other countries around the world, We are fighting the same pandemic, so who is to say we are overdressed or underdressed. There are countries like China, who have layers of protection from head to toe.
Overall, PPE and masks shortages places a high risk on endangering not only us frontline workers, but our patients, colleagues and loved ones at home. Personally, it gives me anxiety that I live with a healthy, elderly aunt in her 70’s and I would hate to see her health deteriorate if I was an unknown carrier. Thus, if we take the action to protect one another, prepare ourselves, and feel safe to work, then we can do our part as nurses with safety. We have rights as nurses, and one right is to refuse work in unsafe environments.
I think this fund would greatly benefit our local hospitals and communities as we continue to fight this pandemic and minimize the spread of COVID-19. By receiving donations, we can truly make a difference in saving lives."

"I’m a nurse with about 1 year of experience, coming out of school practically straight into a pandemic. I have a critically ill father at home who is immunocompromised after 24 rounds of Chemo. I am extremely scared of unknowingly being infected and bringing it home to him.
My unit was selected to be the designated COVID-19 unit, meaning, we admit all the Potential and Positive cases. That being said, even on such a high risk unit such as mine, we are at an absolute critically low level of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) which includes, but not limited to, Surgical masks, Face shields, and Isolation Gowns.
Without this vital PPE, we virtually cannot go into the patient rooms to give them medication and provide care as we would expose ourselves to the virus, which then would spread dramatically to everyone else we come into contact with.
The government is saying that Ontario is not experiencing any PPE shortage. This is truly frustrating because we are the ones on the front lines without the means to protect ourselves and they have to audacity to tell the public everything is under control.
We need help. We simply just need help."
