As many of you may know, with Covid-19 the Delta variant is sweeping through developing countries at an unimaginable rate. Saigon, Vietnam has been in complete lockdown for a month in an attempt to slow down the rate of transmission.
The lockdown is devastating to the poor people in the city, many of them were working in temporary jobs such as street vendors, construction workers. Living far from their homes in the countryside, with the lockdown, they can’t go back to the village and don’t have jobs. On the other end of the spectrum, you have doctors and nurses who had been working in hospital non-stop for the last month (they can’t go home due to the needs and risk of infection), without adequate masks or gown and subsistence on instant noodles.
The local Vietnamese are helping each other. As part of our network, a group of Vietnamese professionals have banded together to raise money in Vietnam, where people are contributing a month of salary ($200-$300USD) to the fund, which is used to help the people. This is not enough, so we in the US would like to help.
We're setting up this fund to send money directly to the team in Vietnam for Covid Relief. Your donation will provide PPE for doctors and nurses to continue the fight against the deadly virus, and food for the homeless being pushed farther out into the corners of society. Unfortunately, the vaccine will take many more months to reach those in need and your donation will keep people alive. Every $5.00 will yield a quality set of PPE (mask, gloves, gowns) for doctors and nurses in Vietnam. Each $2.00 will buy a week's worth of basic food for a homeless person in Vietnam. You can rest assured that proof of purchase and donations will be sent out to all our amazing donors.
Please donate however much you can as any amount will help.
