Pandemic Relief for Uncle Jordan
Donation protected
If you know Jordan Shaw, you probably know he’s faced a lot of challenges in his 33 years: Childhood cancer. Chemo & radiation. Kidney failure. Countless surgeries. Two kidney transplants, thanks to the generosity of two amazing donors and their families, and years of life-sustaining dialysis. Then in 2020, a new obstacle no one expected: Covid-19. Due to his weak immune system, Jordan’s doctors ordered his isolation in March, and he hasn’t been able to return to his beloved students and coworkers in the local public schools since. As his sister, I’m so grateful he is #safeathome and can play Nintendo with his nephews, but nearly zero income for 10 months means his savings account has been emptied--and he’s starting the new year on shaky ground, not knowing how he’ll afford his car payment, gas, phone bill, or the occasional Chipotle delivery. My goal with this fundraiser is this: bless Jordan by paying off his car, the much-loved Subaru he drives to dialysis three days a week, to take his biggest monthly expense off his plate. He would never ask for help, but I wanted to do this on his behalf, and I know there are hundreds of friends, colleagues, and families who, if given the chance, would love to support and encourage Jordan as he continues to manage his health, to "fight everyday," as he says, in the midst of this pandemic. Thank you for sharing this fundraiser with everyone you know who's been touched by Jordan, by cancer, or by organ donation. Keep Calm and Live Strong, and #donatelife.
