Last August, in the midst of the pandemic, the monsoon season left areas in the province of Sindh, Pakistan in complete disrepair. Families in rural Karachi are still suffering as the heavy rains tore down their roofs and destroyed the bases of their homes right when the lockdown was being lifted, and haven't been repaired since. Alongside this, Covid-19 has devastated their communities, and resulted in the loss of livelihoods of daily wagers, leading to a severe lack of food and increased poverty during this health disaster. As usual, the ones who have suffered the brunt of these disasters are the country's poorest.

Kakapir is one such village. Located close to Karachi's Sandspit Beach, its inhabitants are mostly daily wagers. They have been victims of monsoon floods, strict lockdown, and have been neglected by the government. The funds collected from this campaign will be used to provide ration for 100 families in Kakapir during the month of Ramadan in April and May. If the fundraiser goal is met, then we will increase the goal to provide funds so they can rebuild their houses' roofs and bases to make them properly inhabitable again.

Kakapir's residents need your help. No matter what amount you donate, it'll go towards ensuring that everyone in the village can afford the basic right to food, and, hopefully, the comfort of having a proper home and shelter.
