Over the last few weeks Indonesia has been overrun by COVID-19 cases, completely overwhelming the healthcare system, and leaving poor, rural, and vulnerable communities particularly at risk. As the Delta variant threatens even more devastation across the country, extensions to state restrictions as well as the sustained loss of an invaluable tourism industry compounds the devastating impact of COVID-19 and poverty.  
Unlike in Australia, Indonesians have been afforded only very little government assistance in the response to the pandemic. Many families have lost their jobs and are unable to access basic necessities. Having worked & lived in Indonesia for many years, this cause is very close to our hearts and we would like to give back during this time of need.
Building off a previous campaign in which Millie Savage Jewellery funded and built a public well in Sumba, Indonesia in October 2020, this campaign will fund the production and distribution of food packages for poor and rural families in various regions of the country. A $30 AUD donation will fund one food package for a household, containing staples such oil, rice, sugar, tea and coffee. These donations are intended to provide support to those most vulnerable to the impacts of COVID-19 in Indonesia.
Our trusted friends & family on the ground in Sumba and Bali will be in-charge of purchasing the goods & distributing the food packages - bypassing any charities that will reduce the impact through admin fees. This way you can be sure 100% of your donation will go to the people who need it the most.
We aim to help hundreds of families. If we raise $25,000 we can give these packages (which we estimate will last a month) to 833 families! We can really make a change with a small donation of $30.
