BALANCE PILATES & YOGA STUDIO has been serving the Cape May community for over 15 years, and the time has come for us to ask for support from you.
If you would have told me this time last year - as I finished up my 6th round of chemo and 21st & last round of radiation, after the 7 most challenging months of my life - that this year would be even more of a test, I would have laughed.
Well 2020 has been full of surprises.
If you know me, I am really flexible. I can bend for days. I can endure plenty of hardships, pain, and challenges. It takes a bit to really piss me off or make me lose it (unless there is a hangry factor or I am trying to maneuver down the aisles of the Rio Grande Walmart on a holiday Saturday).
But this is different.
I had a plan.
I pivoted quickly and started teaching online within 4 days of shutting down. I started filming the online studio as planned before the pandemic. I learned how to edit and upload and teach in a way that sometimes felt both uncomfortable and frustrating.
I missed my students being in the studio with me for practice.
Like many others, I longed for the old normal.
But I kept to the plan even as the 2 weeks timeline kept evolving into months.
In two months, I created over 50 classes and shared them on a totally new platform.
Then...
I'm not sure what happened - people went back to work, or became caregivers to grandchildren, or just could not find their zen at home and show up for practice.
In addition, the usual influx of summer students has not happened and we have experienced a serious cashflow problem to the point that I do not think the studio will survive this year without help.
I've applied for the COVID RELIEF Disaster Loan and received $1000 (this covered our liability insurance policy).
I've called several banks and was told that they are no longer taking applications.
I've also applied for several forgivable loans and am waiting to hear back.
All of these are not going to be enough.
It is time to ask for your help.
I have set up this campaign in order to keep the doors to Balance open.
Many of us have been affected by this pandemic.
If you are one of the lucky few who were able to remain financially secure and would like to contribute that would be greatly appreciated.
As a token of appreciation, I am sharing the link to our Restorative Yoga for Anxiety Relief online class with those who donate.
I am grateful for the previous 15 years of serving the community of Cape May and hopeful to remain open for years to come.
Many thanks for your continued support.
Namaste,
Judy
