COVID Relief for a Doctor in Need

Donation protected
As a doctor in Cochabamba, Bolivia, Rene has worked in the most remote parts of Bolivia, dedicated to helping the poorest patients have healthy and productive lives. As the COVID-19 pandemic hit, Rene was on the front lines again helping an overwhelming number of Bolivians to recover from the virus. But as in so many cases with this pandemic, the doctor has now become the patient.

In late July, he and his wife Ana were admitted to the hospital with COVID-19. Because there was a shortage of beds, he and his wife were admitted to separate hospitals. Although Ana is slowly recovering, Rene has unfortunately taken a turn for the worst and had to be transferred to a different hospital on August 8th in order to get intensive and specialized care. Since his admission, he has been placed on a ventilator. Rene and Ana’s adult daughters, Lizette and Leslie, have been working tirelessly, going from one hospital to another, buying medicine, and making sure that their parents are getting the best care possible. Meanwhile, Ana, and Rene and Ana’s older daughter, Lizette, have lost their teaching jobs due to school closures, and Leslie has given up her job to care for her parents.

Our Funding Request

We are graciously asking for help to meet our goal of $30,000 to help pay for the medical expenses his insurance will not cover. We continue to pray for Rene and Ana’s full recovery and truly appreciate your donation to help Rene and Ana conquer COVID-19. All funds withdrawn from this GoFundMe will be delivered to Rene and Ana Delgadillo on behalf of Rene’s brothers, William and Pablo Delgadillo, the organizers of this fundraiser.

Thank you.
