Aloha Maui Community! Our neighbor island of Lana’i are in desperate need of food and supplies with the new COVID outbreak that just happened on the island on Tuesday. It started with 4 cases and has already jumped up to 38 cases within three days. Lana’i is a very small community with a population of only 3500 people. The island and people living there are VERY VERY limited on food and supplies and are restricted to travel to other islands to get the necessities they need to survive on the island. We are putting together a food/supply drive here on Maui for any donations that can be made for the people of Lana’i. If you are unable to go to the store or don’t have any food or supply items to donate, we will be accepting monetary donations that will be used to buy food and supplies from Costco so we can buy bulk items and break it down into individual boxes that we will be distributing throughout the island. Our goal to is donate at least one box to every house/family on the island. Our Island representatives have ordered the island of Lana’i to go on a lockdown and avoid leaving their homes for any reasons but emergencies. Let’s do our part by helping the community out and bringing food and supplies to their front doors to help stop the spread on the island and keep people at home. ANYTHING is greatly appreciated and all funding will be used to buy food and supplies. If we have an overwhelming response and have met our goal of making sure everyone on Lana’i has at least one box of items, we will donate the rest of the items to families in need on Maui. It’s unfortunate but since the outbreak of COVID in the beginning of the year, the community of Lana’i has never once held a food drive for the people. This is VERY crucial for the people of the island to survive. Lana’i only has two grocery stores and have VERY limited supplies. The island needs our help let’s do our part and make a donation to a good cause.
