COVID - Free Ambulance Auto Service
As the pandemic rages in India, a lot of CBOs/NGOs are working tirelessly at the grass root level providing critical help to people in need. Some of these CBOs/NGOs are small with limited resources but the work they are doing is very important in supporting the communities they serve.
One such CBO/NGO is Spread Smile being led by Swati Rajiv. They are based out of Lucknow in Uttar Pradesh, India and have been providing food - cooked and uncooked, masks and PPE kits to the underprivileged sections of society since the pandemic started. I have had the privilege of supporting Spread Smile previously for their work with education of underprivileged students.
As the Indian healthcare system is getting stretched, there are shortages of a lot of basic essential amenities. This is even more acute in Tier 2 and 3 cities like Lucknow. One such service is Ambulance. Spread Smile is starting a FREE ambulance auto service. This is inspired by the Delhi Ambulance Auto Service (https://www.sirfnews.com/delhi-auto-ambulances-with-oxygen-support-launched/). These autos will be fitted with oxygen cylinders, sanitizers and GPS to track their movement. The drivers will be provided PPE kits and will be specially trained to handle the COVID-19 patients.
This is a great service which will benefit the poor patients who are not able to afford the expensive ambulance services and are struggling to reach hospitals on time! Spread Smile aims to start with 5 autos and slowly expand to at least 10 autos depending upon the funds they are able to raise.
Your contributions will be used to convert these autos to Ambulance Auto Service (fitted with oxygen cylinders, PPE kits etc) and provide service free of cost to underprivileged sections of society. It will also include paying for drivers salaries who are taking great risk in ferrying Covid positive people.
Let's all come together and raise money for a great cause. Every penny counts!
