COVID19 has tested individuals and families in ways most of us have never known, and this is especially true for Bryan and the Blackburn family. For those of you who don’t know, Bryan has been hospitalized since January 12th with complications from COVID. Bryan had been fighting a fever for several days, but it wasn’t until he showed signs of confusion, that his wife, Eileen, knew it was time to head to the hospital. Assuming he was just severely dehydrated and in need of fluids or medication, the diagnosis that came from his doctors next sent a shockwave to his friends and family alike. Bryan was not only positive for COVID 19, but the disease had caused his oxygen levels to become critically low and he needed to be put on a ventilator immediately due to pneumothorax. After spending a week at Cape Canaveral Hospital, on January 19th, Bryan was airlifted to Orlando Regional Medical Center where he could receive advanced medical treatment and ultimately a better prognosis. Since then, it has been a series of ups and downs and to say that the past few weeks have been a rollercoaster would be an understatement.
In case you haven’t had the chance to meet Bryan, he is a beloved and devoted husband, father to Brady, and bonus Dad to Bree, Kailee, Madison, and Kyler. Bryan recently celebrated his 14th year with FPL, working out of the Merritt Island yard in Brevard Operations as a lineman and Restoration Specialist. When he’s not hard at work, he enjoys spending time with his family, offshore fishing in Cape Canaveral and Venice, LA, and cruising their boat down to the Bahamas.
Unfortunately, in just a few short weeks much of this has changed. Not only has this disease caused a devastating effect physically, but an emotional and financial one as well. If you know Eileen & Bryan, you know they are extremely hardworking people and not ones to ask for handouts. Let’s show them the love and support in their time of need and rally together to do what we can to ease any burden. Financial support, prayers, good vibes, virtual hugs, anything you are able to offer, would mean the world to them!
