COVID assistance for Rudy Lucero and family
Donation protected
I’m posting this in support of my Uncle Rudy’s recovery. In November, Rudy aka “Rude Dog”
tested positive for COVID-19. After getting the virus, he unexpectedly developed major critical
issues with his lungs and has not had the smoothest road to recovery over the past 2 months.
After testing positive, Uncle Rudy and his wife Lea had a short visit to the hospital and were
sent home. However, they returned to the hospital as his symptoms and breathing problems persisted and he was admitted for four days and then released with 2 liters of oxygen. He was initially misdiagnosed with Covid pneumonia, which is untreatable. He was later diagnosed with treatable bacterial pneumonia, but unfortunately, he has sustained damage to his lungs. His health continued to decline and Rudy had to get his oxygen intake increased from 2 to 4 liters and was working closely with the VA during this time.
His condition continued to progress downhill with severe coughing jags and his oxygen levels dropping to the 40’s (which is severely dangerous). After his oxygen levels reached that
low, it took some time for them to return to the 70s. Sadly, his journey hasn’t gotten easier and
he has since been readmitted to the hospital after his wife called his primary VA doctor due to
his condition not progressing. He has since been admitted for three weeks and counting.
Unfortunately the extended amount of time his sickness has persisted, this has left Rudy with severely damaged lungs that will require a lung transplant. He is currently in the hospital
waiting for this transplant surgery that will put him back on the road to recovery.
With the extended time my Uncle Rudy has been in the hospital, he has been unable to focus on his business. He, therefore, is unable to cover day-to-day expenses because he has been supplementing his income with his savings. We’re fundraising to help cover these
expenses and bills to keep him focused on the positives and his road to recovery. Your support
will help alleviate the stress of worrying about his wife or if he’s going to lose everything he’s
worked his entire life for.
Rudy is a kind and loving husband, father, and grandfather. Family and friends mean the world
to him. He has dedicated his life to his loved ones, and is a proud veteran who has served his
country in the Air Force and Navy.
If you know Rudy, you know that he is selfless and is always there to help out anyone who asks without reservations. His positive attitude and unique sense of humor has kept his loved ones strong through these trying times.
We ask for your support and generosity to help my Uncle Rudy & his wife out at this time
keeping life in the positive to focus on his recovery.
