Hi my name is Gareth and I am trying to raise money to pay for treatment.

In August 2021 after a 2nd bout of covid, i suffered blood clots in my main artery (Aorta, caused by Covid Blood thickening) which broke apart and showered down my left leg. The pain I suffered for the following 10 months was indescribable and due to how diagnosis works in a man my age it went undiagnosed and incorrectly treated. After going private i was then referred and this is when the clot was identified. A bypass was attempted to save my leg which failed as too much time had passed and i had to make the decision to have my leg removed July 2022. Since then i have developed a neuroma ( nerve knots) and been unable to function day to day even with a prosthetic leg due to pain and the waiting list for proper treatment has taken months. There is an element of cost involved for NHS to give me the right treatment so i will have to go private if i am to try to get any quality of life back for myself and with my kids. I also want to get back to work and get my independence back. I have accumulated debt and have never ending spiral of interest costs. Im in desperate need of pain relief and need to get back to a functional person in my day to day life. My mental health has been hugely impacted and I just want to be able to get out of bed and be a normal person adapting to my new normal, as a disabled man. Im willing to play the cards ive been dealt but I need a little help to be physically able to do this and now, reaching out after almost 2 and a half years of pain and immobility. Your help would be appreciated more than youll ever know.

Update as of 2024 i have been put on a waiting list for Plastic Surgery to fix my nerve damage and have been told up to 3 years. In between this experimenting with different drugs to get a little masking of the pain. 3 years is a long time. If i can raise this money I could afford to pay for it myself and get back to being an active Dad for my kids and of course myself

I also had my case escalated, which has changed the practice in how potential blood clots in younger folk are measured/treated . This means a lot to me as others may have a better chance earlier to catch and treat this to avoid the extreme. Covid affects us all and I won't be alone in how it affected me so if the NHS change in practice will help others then I'll be happy with that
