Help Sue Recover from Emergency Brain Surgery
My wife, Sue, has been bravely battling cervical dystonia, a painful and life-altering neurological disorder. Two years ago, she underwent Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) surgery, which gave us hope for better management of her symptoms.
This past week, however, we were hit with a devastating setback. The wires that connected the rods in her brain to the battery pack in her chest became exposed and were coming out through her scalp. We had no choice but to rush to St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester for emergency surgery.
The doctors had to remove every single component of her DBS system—the battery pack in her chest, the wires running under her neck and scalp, and even the rods and electrodes in her brain. What was supposed to be a treatment that gave Sue relief has now turned into another long, painful road to recovery.
Why We’re Asking for Help
Along with the physical toll, this crisis has placed a heavy financial burden on us. In just a few days, we’ve had to cover:
4 nights in a hotel near the hospital
Gas and travel expenses
Meals away from home
And now, mounting medical bills
We are seeking to raise $6,000 to help cover these unexpected costs.
How You Can Help
Any donation, big or small, will directly ease the financial stress we are facing during this difficult time and allow us to focus on Sue’s healing and recovery. If you aren’t able to give financially, sharing this campaign with others would mean the world to us.
Sue has always been a fighter, and with your support, we can make this burden a little lighter for her.
From the bottom of our hearts—thank you.
