hello! my name is cole riz smith, i go by riz online. i am a freelance commission artist based out of flagstaff, arizona; commissions have been my primary source of income for a few years now but i am just now making enough to try and survive, and catching up with changes in tax law.

that's where part of the picture for this campaign comes from! i was in an extremely bad place most of last year and failed to save enough for taxes this year - the amount circled in red at the top, $782 is what i owe the government. this sucks but potentially largely manageable

the second picture slash number is how much it costs to have my name legally changed to cole riz smith in the state of arizona; i have already filed, along with filing for a fee deferral or dismissal, and sadly only managed a deferral. over the next few months i owe the government almost $350 more, bringing it up to a total of $1,119. alongside this, the higher fee is due by mid-april and lower is just due over a few months.

the good news is i am already almost halfway to being able to finish my taxes! i currently have around $300 saved up. the bad news is it's march. this is where the gfm comes in:

This GFM is not to pay for my taxes and name change. this is my amount to pay and i will pay it with money i've earned. but during this time i am also struggling to pay my rent and some smaller bills, primarily medical bills. This GFM is to help with that. $750 is not a lot for a lot of people, but it is for me; this is the cost of two months of rent and medical bills. i am having trouble saving up everything i need at this time, and would greatly appreciate any help. anything over $750, god forbid, will be going to later months' bills. as a disclaimer i live with a roommate who shoulders a lot of financial responsibility, but not my payments.
