Covering Jupiter's Vet Bills
Spende geschützt
This is Jupiter. He is our just about to be 5 year old cat. We adopted him when he was just a kitten and have had him since October of 2020. He's been with us for about 5 years now and has become a staple and rock in our family of four. He loves to cuddle, chase a laser pointer and scream for food when he's hungry.
Recently, he had a bit of an episode where his breathing was becoming a little weird. We didn't shrug this off though. We quickly called every single vet in Fresno, most of which were busy or booked and couldn't take him in for a at least two weeks out. We had a bit of a panic moment as he started to breathe even more intensely, he eventually started howling and we had no choice but to take him to an emergency room for pets.
They took him to the back, kept him on oxygen and came out to let us know that he was likely to have fluid in his lungs somehow and that his heart was enlarged, which just makes sense for him. He loves to love, so it's very tragic that his big heart is his downfall here. They kept him in the vet overnight and got him back to normal. A steady breathing rate and told us we should visit a cardiologist asap. We have since scheduled an appointment with a cardiologist at UC Davis, which is great. We are working with them to figure out what the diagnosis would be but until that appointment we are just playing it by ear and doing what we can to keep him safe and healthy.
However, this unexpected turn left us with a massive hit financially. We both work full time jobs and are working towards paying this off with other financial responsibilities. The first vet bill coming out close to $5,000 and the second visit bill being close to $1,000.
In moments like this, you do whatever it takes to save your family. Jupiter is like a puzzle piece to our family and the panic and sorrow we felt for those two days was some of the worst feelings of panic and emotion we have ever felt. But like I said, you do whatever you can to keep your family together for as long as you can.
This fundraiser is set to $6,000 to help cover the vet bills while we work out how to afford a cardiologist. While we do not expect to hit $6,000; any amount of money is greatly appreciated. We are working through this together and as quickly as possible.
We appreciate anything y'all do to help us through this difficult time. The compassion for an animal like this is so strong, we as well as Jupiter and Arthur thank you for any assistance you give us during this time. Thank you.
