Saturday morning May 10th, my wife and I received a phone call that no one ever wants to get. A family member told us that my wife’s mom, Joy, who was only 47 years old had a massive stroke on Friday night. She was found unresponsive by a neighbor and immediately taken to the hospital, and then soon after transferred to KU Med for intensive care. When we arrived, the doctors came in to give us the report. She had little to no brain activity and we were told it was unrecoverable damage. After many hours of conversation and prayer with family and medical professionals, we made the decision to take her off of life support early late on Sunday. Because she was an organ donor, her passing has given life to others. In the early hours of Monday May 12th, we said our final goodbyes and she passed peacefully.
In lieu of flowers, we are raising funds to help cover all final expenses and excess funds will be used to help establish a college fund for her granddaughter, Tiana Joy.
