Cover vet care costs for Prada

My name is Johanna and I am Prada’s mom. Prada is a 13 yr old pitty mix that I have had since she was a pup when her owner could no longer care for her.

On Friday, 8/4, Prada some how got a back injury - I was outside, I heard her screaming, came running inside and found Prada unable to use her rear legs. I rushed her to the vet and they brought her right into the back. She was in shock and in critical condition with a very elevated heart rate and low blood pressure. Once they stabilized her, they did x-rays and no fractures were found.

Prada stayed in the hospital Friday into Saturday afternoon to get her pain under control and monitor the neurological function of her back end.

The first day she required her bladder to be expressed manually so that she could pee but she is able to pee on her own now!

She has some very deep pain response in one paw but is otherwise unable to use her rear legs.

The hope is that the trauma from whatever happened has caused severe inflammation in her back, thus causing these issues but a spinal cord injury has not been ruled out. Time and anti-inflammatories will be the deciding factor for Prada’s long-term outcome.

I immediately ordered a lift harness and a wheelchair for her. Also got a lifejacket so we can start doing some swimming at the lake to keep her rear leg muscles moving.

I have been able to cover all costs with care credit and other credit cards. However, this huge financial burden has fallen just 6mo after having major specialist veterinary bills for my dog Cookie that ultimately led to Cookie’s passing.

I would also love to get Prada into physical therapy to give her the best chance at having the best life she can. Physical Therapy for dogs does not come cheap sadly.

To know Prada is to immediately have a smile on your face because of her sweet, nutty demeanor.

Any help towards these bills would take so much stress off of my shoulders and will help give Prada the best chance. Thank you so much for reading.
