Hi Everyone

Harpo - my dog's best friend, is injured and currently recovering. Many of you know him well- he is the most lovely fellow who loves to greet everyone and is a total softy! A couple of days ago he was injured, running into hidden barbed wire. He tore the top of one of his legs badly and had to have surgery to mend the wound, antibiotics to protect him from infection as well as ongoing pain relief.

The vet bill was sizeable and of course an unexpected expense (on top of the shock and upset when your dog gets hurt). Because of the location of the wound at the top of his elbow, it's a very difficult wound to manage. Every time he moves, it causes pain and stress. This means he has to be kept still, be monitored closely by the vet with several more visits to progress his healing, all of which will add to the bill. We don't know the cost of this yet, but he has two visits booked in this week already. The initial emergency was just over £700 - the vet was fantastic and he is receiving excellent care.

As I'm sure you understand, vet bills often escalate and are hard to pay because they are unexpected, especially at this time of year following Christmas.

I want to help contribute and several friends and other dog owners who know Harpo, have asked me how they can give to support him and his owner. I have set up this go fund me so that those of us who want to help can do so easily and I will also be sharing this with people who I know love to see Harpo on his daily walks and will miss him over the next month while he recovers at home. Please do share with anyone you think may like to help.

I know, that when he is allowed to walk again, he is going to be a lot of fun and full of beans! For those that have asked - his breed is a Wire-Haired Hungarian Vizsla.

Dear Harpo - sending love and wishing you a speedy recovery. I hope you don't get too chubby lying on the sofa for a few weeks - we are all trying to lose Christmas weight so we can exercise together! Look forward to seeing you back out with all the dog community soon. xxx
