Three of the students that will be supported by your donation:
The first student is a young lady that recently graduated from Malawi University of Business and Applied Sciences (MUBAS) and has one more term to complete her Master's degree at University of Africa in Zimbabwe, earning Dean's List on her last term.
The second student will be attending Music Crossroads, in Lilongwe, a 2-year diploma program in music. She is already a talented musician. https://music-crossroads.net/
The 3rd student is interested in studying Food and Nutrition or Agriculture, a 2-year diploma program. Currently he is working with a local artist in decorating libraries with Luc's Libraries.
Today I taught my last official math class.
After 29 years filled with numbers, laughter, and learning, I’m hanging up my graphing calculator and passing the torch.
Only exams and report card comments remain, but the finish line is in sight. Soon, a new chapter begins, and fittingly, it starts in Prince Edward Island.
It has been an honour and a privilege to teach at:
• Ridley College (St. Catharines, Ontario)
• Shanghai American School
• Istanbul International Community School
• Academia Cotopaxi (Quito, Ecuador)
• Inuujaq School (Arctic Bay, Nunavut)
Over the years, I’ve taught approximately 2,500 students.
Whether you were in my Grade 6 class, a high school math course, part of my advisory group, one of the 2,000 students who joined the 97 Habitat for Humanity trips I organized across Asia and Africa, or among the 400 who took part in one of my 22 visits to the Jacaranda School in Malawi, thank you for being part of this journey.
As I turn the page, I hope you’ll carry forward the spirit of giving back and paying it forward.
With your support, we can help fund university for two Jacaranda students. Approximately $2,500 supports one student for a year, every contribution makes a real and lasting impact.
Let’s help give these deserving students the chance to achieve their dreams.
Some of you are just starting university. Others are partway through. Many of you are well into your careers, having graduated, married, and started families. Just this weekend, I saw that three of you recently became doctors: two in medicine and one with a PhD in Chemistry. I’m incredibly proud of all of you.
Many of you have stayed connected through FB or Instagram. For those I’ve lost touch with, I’d be grateful if you could share this message within your networks.
You’ve all left your mark. I may not remember every name, but I remember you. It has been my absolute honour to work with you over the years.
To anyone else reading this, your support for Jacaranda truly makes a difference. Since my first visit in 2009, I’ve seen the transformation firsthand. It’s your continued generosity that makes it all possible.
Thank you. I am beyond grateful.
