Hello! My name is Abby, I’m a 33 year old single mother, and we stay with my father due to the economy. I’ve had quite a rough ride through life, but this is the worst situation I think I’ve been in.

Sadly, I lost my job months ago, and last month my father was let go, as a Master Plumber of 40 years. He has had multiple back surgeries and thought this was his chance to find something easier, and he did! A maintenance man at our apartment complex for which he ticks every box.

He interviewed, they said he got it, we told my daughter (I know I should have waited) but I was so excited as this meant she would finally get her own room.

A month later, they’re still telling him “we have another two interviews” They brought my dad in for a second interview, told him again, “you’re our first choice.” Then it was “we’re done interviewing now we should know any day.” Today my father got a call that we are going to be receiving an eviction notice.. and today they told him someone from corporate would be there tomorrow, but that they also have another interview.. we don’t know what that means.

My father is now looking for a new plumbing job, but in the meantime we can not get evicted. We will all lose everything, everything we’ve owned and accumulated. I’d lose my dog, my extensive plant collection but most importantly.. I would lose my daughter who has been with me full time the past 3 years. She has made tons of friends here, is on the volleyball team and is involved with her middle school band and extra curricular activities. She’s been the winner of her school spelling bee, then the county champion the following year, and last year got to regionals. 3 years in a row.

I sit here writing through tears after hearing my dad say to himself “I would be better off dead” and the fact that I didn’t get her back from her father, who kept her from me until roughly 3 years ago, I don’t want to lose what little time I have left with her as a child.

It was the best day of both of our lives when he let her move in with me. Since then she has grown and changed in many ways. She did not get along with her father when they lived together. It would be 10x worse now. She ran away from him before at 9/10 years old.

I am absolutely sick and terrified that if she’s forced to move back there, that she would run away and I would never see her again. I would personally would either have to move back to NJ and start over completely, and with whom I would live, I have no idea..

Please, please, if you are in a situation to help as at all, it will all be going to rent to keep us together as a family as I’m all my father has here, my daughter is what keeps me alive..

UPDATE: We have had some people very generously donate! We are getting there, but time is dwindling! If you can afford to donate $5, $10, $20, Every dollar helps. Not only do we have the rent, but power, water, car note and gas to get Lilly to and from where she needs to go and any other necessities that involve driving. Our tags are out, it needs an oil change and an inspection.

When it rains it pours, but I’m so grateful to those of you who have helped us so far as well as those who have shared this for me.
