Cover the cost of vet bills after po was hit by a car

Hello, my names Abby, and in the picture is po. Po is my 4 year old cat who I’ve had since he was a couple weeks old from an unsuitable house.

po was recently hit by a car outside of my home while I was out this was witnessed by 2 of my neighbours, the car did not slow down or stop. A neighbour informed me around 8pm on the 22nd I searched for po with the help of several other friends for hours in the dark and rain with no success I put a post on Facebook mainly into my local area groups (illminster pages) to ask people to check gardens and other places for po as we suspected he was hurt. The next day another neighbour told me he had seen it happen and then walked me to what direction po had gone off too. We found him and I rushed him straight to the vets, he was unable to use his back end and was in a bit of a mess when I found him.

po stayed the night at the vets and had fluids/pain meds and x rays the next morning. I then was aloud to collect po at 6pm on the 24th. His bill was £907. po is on strict cage rest (a small cage with just a litter tray food water and a bed and he has to be in there 24/7 for 4 weeks as his sacrum/ hips are out of place. This is not a definite recovery but it is the first step. I am a single 22 year old and I do not have the finances to cover the vet bills, I work as a mental health support worker but due personal matters I have been signed off from work for 8 weeks. I’ve never made a go fund me for anything before, but it was suggested to me by quite a few people on Facebook and the vets themselves so here I am.

po really is important to me, I don’t have children and I live an hour away from any family or friends, I also don’t really know anyone in the area, but luckily my neighbours are pretty friendly. I never thought something like this would happen in the quiet little street I live in and I’m heartbroken it has. Po will need more check up appointments as he progresses in his recovery and im willing to do whatever it takes to be able to cover his bills to make sure he can be himself again. Everyone in my area knows po and knows he’s an outdoor cat through and through, he’s a little intrusive and nosey but he’s the most gentle loving little creature ever. He has the most unique little personality and has been all I’ve had through many hard times over the years including an abusive relationship.

if your able to spare anything at all towards helping me help him I would be forever grateful and I appreciate times are hard at the moment the cost of living is crazy high and everyone’s struggling in some way.
