Cover SSDI withheld payments

Trying to offset monthly bills because social security is garnishing my payments for not spending the back pay they owed me fast enough. *this is a real failing of oversight they have apparently*

Social security owed me back pay for social security disability for previous years after I won a judge appointed review; winning SSD. After I received my back pay I was sent a notice of over payment 2 years later citing that in January 2023 I had more than $3000 in assets in my bank account which disqualified me from earning my disability for that month, this is because on the last days of December I received the back pay social security owed me bringing my assets over the threshold for disqualification.

Despite this being money owed to me it was still counted and social security has been garnishing my payments every month. A notice of over payment was sent to me last year indicating I had time to reply and file a claim about the money I now owed but I had received the mail just as the window for sending in a response was closing. I had just a few days later went to the ER for severe covid and was sick for almost a month prior. My plan to file a claim was further put on hold when my new chronic disease quickly took over my life's focus and I have been chasing to treat it ever since. I was never able to find the time to write in a response to social security and they began withholding money from me that I very much need.
