Dad is doing amazing and progressing well. His oxygen level is stable without the tubes. Hes been sitting up more. And is walking around everyday with physio

Dec 23rd update

My dad was moved out of ICU last night and they have removed the oxygen tube. Some chest tubes and a bunch of other lines ext. With out the oxygen his level is in between 94% to 98%. The drs are pleased with the progress

Update dec 22, 2025

Dad has been doing so amazing since the surgery. The surgery overall took 7 hrs. He has been sitting up in a wheelchair. And the drs and nurses say his stats are doing great. Hopefully before the end of the night he will be out of the ICU.

At 1:44am my dad got the call for his lungs. We are currently doing the work up for him to go into surgery. It has been a long 21 months. If you could help in any way that would be helpful. Our love to all

Hi, My name is Jenn, and I am doing a fundraiser to help with some of the costs for expenses for my dad to get a double lung transplant. My dad Bob Duke was diagnosed with empyema in 1998, the doctors said he wouldn't make it past the age of 55 yrs old. He just celebrated his 68th birthday. Just 2.5 years ago he was finally put on oxygen, He also beat lung cancer, 5 years cancer-free. After many years with this and reached a crucial point to be able to qualify he is now on a wait list for a double lung transplant. This will give him a better quality of life. He has had to do a lot to prove he is willing to put in the work for it, It has not been easy and it was put on hold for a bit until he was able to have the strength to be able to handle the procedure. He still has a ways to go but is on the right track. We have started a GoFundMe page to help with some of the cost, which will help go towards a place to stay (will have to stay in Toronto for at least 3 months after the procedure), transportation back and forth from the hospital, and food expenses. He and His partner Donna Brindley will need to stay plus keep their place in Goderich. They have a bit to cover some but won't be able to afford all on their own. Any help is VERY much appreciated and we LOVE all that helps in any way.
