Help King with monthly expenses from ACL and MCL injury
Donation protected
Hello, my name is King Avery Saenz, and I am a student in my final year at The University of Copenhagen in Denmark.
On August 31st, I experienced an unfortunate accident—my knee collapsed inward, accompanied by a loud pop. Immediately, I knew something was wrong as I struggled to walk. Being an American student abroad with my family back in the States, this injury has caused me significant stress. I began worrying about how I would manage to work and finish school.
After visiting the ER, I was given a knee immobilizer, crutches, and instructions to stay off my leg until I saw a specialist. Unfortunately, the specialist confirmed my fears: I had torn both my MCL (Medial Collateral Ligament) and ACL (Anterior Cruciate Ligament). Because of this injury, my knee lacks stability, and surgery is the only way to repair these major ligaments and allow me to walk without a brace or crutches.
I was told that I will need to wait around four months for surgery, therapy, and recovery before my knee can function normally again. As a bicycle delivery driver, this injury has left me unable to work and without an income. Between paying for rent, food, and living expenses, I also have medical costs that I am responsible for—all while trying to finish my degree. Because I am on a student visa, I must complete my program within a set time frame, or my visa will expire. If I can’t finish my program now, I won’t be able to return later—I’d have to start all over again. I'm so close to graduating, and I do not want this injury to force me to give up.
As a last resort, I humbly ask for any help anyone out there may be able to offer. My goal is to raise $7,000 to cover five months of living and medical expenses, giving me the time I need to recover and complete my last year of school. This support would enable me to focus on healing, finishing my degree, and finding a job that I can do with my temporary medical limitations.
Any amount you can spare would be deeply appreciated. Your generosity will help me in my time of need, and I am extremely grateful for your support.
Humbly yours,
King Avery Saenz
