Hello there- my name is Cynthia Conn and I was diagnosed with stage 3 Invasive ductal carcinoma breast cancer and lymph nodes back in August of 2023. I have had surgery where they were able to get all of the cancer through a mastectomy and 15 lymph nodes were removed. I’m still having to go through chemo treatments and also give myself shots in my stomach to stimulate my white blood cells to make more. My first treatment did not go well and ended up in the hospital two times after that and have struggled to stay afloat. My oncologist has reduced the chemo and I did much better but I’m also doing iv treatments 1-2 x week to keep my blood pressure up. I’m a strong person and I’m taking this one day at a time but it’s been very hard to get my energy and strength up. We only have one income as I am also caring for my 93 yr old mom who lives with us and is full time care. My daughter is helping and my husband helps when he can . The money I raise will go into a medical account that has been set up to help pay for expenses for the shots and medicine I need for each treatment, for iv treatments, cost of gas getting to and from clinics, paying for a caregiver for me once a week to help do my laundry and change my sheets and clean bathroom and prepare food for me during this time. I was in the healthcare for many years and helped care for people in need. It was a joy to help and care for them and I know it made a difference in their life. I don’t usually ask for things as I’ve always been able to make things work until now. I believe in community and that when we love and care for each other we all succeed and make a difference in our lives as well as the people we care for.
