Cover medical & dental expenses for Kathleen

Hello, my name is Nancy Toledo, and I am fundraising for Kathleen Klessen, our friend and neighbor. She needs financial help for medical and dental expenses. She has serious lymphedema in her left arm. Also, she recently fell and knocked out some front teeth. She is pursuing treatment for both issues but needs our help in order to pay for it.

 

The lymphedema developed beginning in 2018 and is a long -term side effect of removing several malignant lymph nodes during breast cancer surgery in 2009. The buildup of excess lymph fluid causes her arm to swell and become very heavy making it difficult for her to use it. She is left-handed. The arm will continue to swell unless the necessary medical equipment is obtained and utilized. The equipment involves a custom-made sleeve and pump and the proper medical supervision. Kathleen has been measured and approved for the equipment, insurance will pay for part, but not all of the expense.

 

The dental work needs to take place to correct problems caused in a recent fall. Again, there is no insurance to cover this expense. Her teeth have become quite brittle as a result of the chemotherapy that accompanied the breast cancer treatment, so the damage is substantial.

 

Kathleen has lived in Rio Vista since 2007. She has volunteered many hours to community organizations including Rio Vision. She is an active member of Thriving Survivors Breast Cancer Support Group as well as other organizations in Trilogy and Rio Vista. Her knowledge and skills are often in demand to help members of the Rio Vista community maintain and beautify their yards and gardens.
