On December 27th, 2021 Heather went to the doctor after a week of being sick at home. There it was discovered her blood-oxygen level was dangerously low and she was referred on to the ER. The ER admitted her to the hospital and there it was discovered Heather had contracted Human metapneumovirus (a type of RSV) and that it contributed to deep thrombosis and pulmonary embolism (leg and lung blood clots). She was experiencing a terrible cough from the respiratory infection as well as pain in her legs.
Many of you know Heather from her two-decade long career in the service industry. She is a staple in the downtown Sioux Falls industry scene. From the wonderful service she has provided the last four years at Minerva's to her steadfast support of friends and guests in their challenges and goals. She selflessly offers a listening ear and advice when needed.
While Heather's prognosis is good she is still in the hospital trying to fight to beat this horrible virus. While she has medical insurance this will be a huge burden even with partial coverage. As we all know bills don't stop for anyone. She has missed out on shifts the past two weeks when tips are often the most generous of the entire year. A bought of bacterial pneumonia at age 25 damaged Heather's lungs leaving her a high risk for infections permanently. This means she should rest at home for an additional week or longer before returning to work.
We are requesting donations be sent to Heather so that she can recuperate completely without the burden of returning to work too early. Funds raised will be spent on household expenses for Heather and her child, Camdyn. Any amount you can contribute will be greatly appreciated. Please consider sharing or asking others and contribute as well.
