After providing abortion care to a 10-year-old rape victim, Dr. Caitlin Bernard has been targeted for harassment, threats, and legal action. Let’s create a fund to cover her security expenses. If we raise more than Dr. Bernard needs, extra funds will go to organizations fighting for reproductive justice (especially the restoration of abortion rights) and/or for security costs incurred by other medical providers in comparable situations.

I do not know Dr. Bernard personally but will contact her via her colleagues at the Indiana University School of Medicine to inform her of this fundraiser and to ensure the funds reach her.

I am a professor of law at Georgetown University who has raised money formally and informally for other causes over the years. My reason for starting this fundraiser is to make concrete the power of collective action in providing security, and therefore support, for Dr. Bernard's commitment to the moral work of abortion care.
