With costs while David goes thru cancer treatment

Donation protected

Good day, as some of you know, my name is Rob. A couple of months ago, when my twin brother, David and I were in Australia, he noticed a growth at the back of his throat. The doctors in Australia thought it might be cancer, so he cut his trip short and returned to Canada. After further testing, he was officially diagnosed with throat cancer unknown cause - DNA testing is being done on it.

Treatment starts in mid-February for 7 weeks, and then there will be a long recovery period. If all goes well and depending on how he responds to treatment and the side effects, he may be unemployed for at least 4 months. With his regular financial obligations and the insane cost of everything these days, any help he can get will go a long way.

Thank you,
Rob

Hi everyone. I'm Lori, Rob and Dave's older sister. People who know Dave well also know that he would give the shirt off his back to anyone who needed it. He put his own life on hold to help our mother when she was terminally ill, then our stepfather, he's given money to his family and friends, he helps with their home renovations, he has even rescued complete strangers on the side of the road. And, you also know that Dave would never ask for anything for himself, which is why Rob and I are asking on his behalf. Dave will need all his strength to get through the throat cancer treatments and financial stress is the last thing he needs. In these trying times, any help you are willing and able to give would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
Lori

Hi all, Dave here, I would like to thank my brother for starting this and my sister for her kind words. I am not usually one to ask for financial help. It would be so much easier if I were still a medic in the Canadian military. Unfortunately for me, I was injured (not due to combat) and after 8.5 years of service, I was forced to release for medical reasons...

...So far, I only require radiation treatment to fight this cancer, but the aggressive schedule and the adverse side effects will prevent me from working for a while. A new friend who went through this a few years ago gave me some advice as to how to get try and manage this (thank you, Jesse, for all the info/support now and in the future). I will have to make many modifications to my lifestyle, but I am adaptable, so I am not too worried about that. What I would like to avoid is being a financial burden on my family. Plus, as my sister said, I need to focus on getting healthy so I can get back to work as soon as possible.

Thank you,
Dave
