Hearing the word cancer about someone you love changes everything. It’s a moment that forces you to face how fragile life can be, and how important it is to support one another in any way we can.

Long before the diagnosis, I had been growing my hair with the intention of donating it to cancer patients who lose their hair during treatment and cannot afford to buy a wig. Hair loss may seem small compared to the illness itself, but for many patients it deeply affects their confidence, dignity, and sense of self during an already overwhelming time.

There are incredible organizations like The Little Princess Trust, which provide real-hair wigs completely free of charge to cancer patients. These organizations rely entirely on hair donations and financial contributions, as they are non-profit. While donating hair is essential, there is also a significant cost involved in turning that hair into a high-quality wig—around 800 euros per wig.

That is why I created this GoFundMe. My goal is to raise the funds needed to cover the cost of making the wig from my donated hair, so it can go directly to someone who needs it but cannot afford it themselves.

Any contribution, no matter how small, helps make a real difference. And if you’re unable to donate, sharing this page is just as meaningful. Eu estava a deixar crescer o meu cabelo com a intenção de doá-lo a pacientes com cancro que perdem o cabelo durante o tratamento e não têm condições financeiras para comprar uma peruca. A perda de cabelo pode parecer insignificante em comparação com a doença em si, mas, para muitos pacientes, afeta profundamente a sua confiança, dignidade e autoestima durante um período que já é muito difícil.

Existem organizações incríveis, como a The Little Princess Trust, que fornecem perucas de cabelo verdadeiro totalmente gratuitas a pacientes com cancro. Estas organizações dependem inteiramente de doações de cabelo e contribuições financeiras, uma vez que são organizações sem fins lucrativos. Embora a doação de cabelo seja essencial, há também um custo significativo envolvido na transformação desse cabelo numa peruca de alta qualidade — cerca de 800 euros por peruca.

Foi por isso que criei este GoFundMe. O meu objetivo é angariar os fundos necessários para cobrir o custo de fabrico da peruca a partir do meu cabelo doado, para que possa ir diretamente para alguém que precisa, mas não tem condições financeiras para a comprar.
