Hello, my name is Muwazu Chisum-Misquitta, and I am a Bay Area native. I am reaching out to the community for support in paying for my cat Chocolate’s veterinary bills.

She is a 7 year old Chantilly-Tiffany who I’ve had since the start of the pandemic. She has gotten me through many depressive episodes, moments of grief, and anxious times. She has been my lifeline and has helped keep me sane.

Over the last few days, and this morning she threw up her entire breakfast, which is what made me take her to the vet. It turns out that she swallowed a silicone wire wrapper, and it is now obstructing her gastrointestinal tract, meaning the object is staying in her stomach, leading into her small intestine, and not moving. Basically, it needs to be surgically removed, or she could die because it is too big for her to pass naturally. The estimate for her treatment is a little over $5,000, and I am not able to pay for it on my own. I am a College Advisor at a high school and currently work through a fellowship that barely covers my rent and basic needs. I can’t afford insurance either and the extremely selective policy offers would’ve forced me to pay large amounts of money out of pocket anyways.

She has just gone into surgery today (3:30 9/5/26) and I just want to make a plan to ensure that she can stay alive and well.
